Where It All Began
The Bali Concept began when we (Nick & Emma) took a year-long trip to Southeast Asia.
Whilst travelling around Bali, we passed so many little workshops dotted across the Island, many of which were family owned and produced an array of different pieces, from rattan lamp shades to intricate wooden carvings, it inspired us to take some pieces home with us with a view of selling them once we returned.
Our journey took us through workshops in Bali, Canggu, and Ubud, where we spent time with families who have perfected their craft over generations. Many of them we still work with today. In those early days, we packed boxes by hand, sent them home on slow shipments, and dreamed about creating a collection that could bring the same sense of warmth and connection we felt in Bali into homes in the UK.

The first container of furniture was unloaded with the help of friends and family, stored in a modest space, and shipped out one order at a time. Each sale felt like a milestone, and every customer who chose one of our pieces became part of the story. Even now, much of our work is still done by hand. From developing designs to sharing the stories of the makers.

The Bali Concept began as an online business but has grown steadily, with our furniture now sitting in homes across the UK. What started as a simple idea has become a collection of handcrafted pieces that range from stools and chairs to mirrors and lighting. Each new launch builds on the same principles we began with: to support fair partnerships, preserve traditional techniques, and create meaningful furniture that lasts.
